Emerge Nevada Announces 21 Alumnae on 2022 Primary Ballot
LAS VEGAS – Emerge Nevada, the premier training and mentoring program for Democratic women seeking public office, proudly announces the 21 alumnae who will appear on Nevadans’ primary ballot this June. These women are:
Judicial candidates
Legislative candidates:
County and Municipal candidates:
School board candidates:
Irene Bustamante Adams – Clark County School Board Trustee, District F
Linda Cavazos * – Clark County Board of Trustees, District G
Kali Fox Miller – Clark County School Board Trustee, District F
Statewide candidates:
Congressional candidates:
E. Mercedes Krause – Congressional District 2
Of the 21 Emerge Nevada alumnae who will appear on the primary ballot, 16 are Black, Indigenous, Latina or Asian American Pacific Islander, and 5 are first-generation Americans — representing the diverse and powerful women of the New American Majority. 5 of the alumnae are incumbents while 12 are first-time candidates, and 3 are running in rural seats.
Emerge Nevada is committed to identifying, recruiting, training, and mentoring self-identifying Democratic women from the New American Majority — Black, Brown, and Indigenous women, and women of color, as well as LGBTQ+, young, and unmarried women — who represent a growing share of our nation’s electorate yet remain underrepresented in government.
Through our 70-hour, six-month signature training program, Emerge Nevada trains women how to run for elected or appointed office and win, covering topics such as campaign planning, budgeting and fundraising, communications, field organizing, public speaking, and ethical leadership. Emerge Nevada also hosts boot camps for specialty races, such as the first-in-the-nation judicial Bootcamp hosted in 2019 that helped 14 out of 15 Emerge Nevada Bootcamp alumnae win judicial seats in 2020.
In 2020, Emerge Nevada alumnae delivered big wins up and down the ballot, with a 71% win rate amid record turnout. In 2022, we are energized to continue changing the face — and conduct — of politics across the state.
