Emerge Nevada Alumnae Win Big in 2020 Election

LAS VEGAS — Emerge Nevada alumnae delivered big wins up and down the ballot in the 2020 election. Amid record turnout, 27 Emerge alumnae won their races, including 14 of 15 Emerge Nevada alumnae running for judicial seats. Their victories underscore the successes of women candidates who won across Nevada.

“We are so proud of our Emerge Nevada alumnae who were a dominant force on the ballot this year, and we are especially thrilled that so many of them were elected in historic wins,” said Danna Lovell, Executive Director of Emerge Nevada. “Our alumnae ran for offices across the state, from Las Vegas to Reno to Fallon to Carson City to Sparks, fighting for a more equitable and just future for all Nevadans. Nearly half of the Emerge Nevada Alumnae on the ballot were first-time candidates and many broke down barriers that will help more women step up and lead, like Dee Butler, who is the first Black woman elected to a judicial seat in Family Court and Belinda T. Harris, who is the first Black woman elected judge in North Las Vegas.

“When women run, we all win. We can’t wait to see our alumnae continue making history in their various posts, leading the charge for progress.”
